Data & security
Your data stays yours.
dashql runs against your database. Here’s what we do - and don’t - with the data it touches.
- Query results
- Running a query streams the result to your browser and no further. We never copy or store your database’s data - your tables and rows stay in your database. Only what you explicitly save (queries, charts, dashboards) is kept in your workspace. Cached results exist only for queries you opt into caching, and are removed with the query.
- Encryption in transit
- Everything between your browser and dashql travels over HTTPS with TLS. Credentials and schema information are only ever sent over that encrypted connection.
- Credentials & secrets
- Data source credentials are encrypted with AES-GCM before they are written to storage. Each data source gets a unique initialization vector, and the decryption key lives outside the database - so stored credentials aren’t readable even if the database were compromised.
